Hypnosis And The Human Mind By Milos Pesic Though a subject put under does seem to take on the peculiarity of somebody asleep, they are essentially completely aware. is astonishingly tricky to define, as nobody truly knows what is hapenning inside the brain of a hypnotized subject. What we do know is that whilst in the subject becomes so suggestible. A subject`s attention, while they are going into trance state, is narrowed down progressively. Firstly, the sense of sight is lost as the hypnotic subject is required to close their eyes. A little later it is not unusual for the subject to lose complete awareness of their body. Though one by one the senses are slowly slipping away, one sense is seriously amplified by the process of induction. This is the sense of hearing. A subject under can regularly hear vague sounds that they wouldn`t be able to hear in the common waking state. This, undeniably, means that throughout the whole process the subject is able to hear everything that the hypnotist might utter. When you start to induce trance state in people you will repeatedly find that upon awakening the hypnotic subject, they will believe they could not have been hypnotized as they could still hear your voice. The misapprehension that they will not be able to hear your voice often comes from those persons who consider to be the same as sleep.
A person in the trance state is pretty susceptible to suggestion. One of the reasons for this is that, while in the trance, you are only able to concentrate on only one thing at a time. For example, if I were to tell you that you are a delicate ballerina, you would immediately compare this suggestion with what you already know to be true, and, lest of course you are a ballerina, you would tell me I am talking nonsense.
